My name is Vijay Bandaru, I live in Hyderabad with my family (Wife Kameswari and two kids, Son – Surya Anirudh and Daughter – Naga Nandita).
I completed my MCA (Master of Computer Applications) from Andhra University during 1995 – 98. I started my career as a developer in a IT services company in Hyderabad. I developed client server applications and websites using Visual Basic, Active Server Pages (ASP) and Microsoft SQL Server. Later I upgraded myself to Microsoft .Net 2.0 and Java/J2EE with JSP, EJB. I worked in Malaysia for a digital entertainment company called Astro (www.astro.com.my) for about 4 years and entered into project management career from there. One of my most favorite projects that I handled was SpiceJet (www.spicejet.com) on line ticketing system and subsidiary applications such as itinerary application, crew management system, flight delay/cancellation alerts, Staff discounted travel management system etc. I grew along with the company and played different roles that include: Technical Lead, Project Lead, Project Manager and Senior Project Manager.
As part of enhancing my educational qualifications, during 2004 – 06 I completed PGDIT (Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology) from Symbiosis University, Pune through distance learning. This is equivalent to MBA program.
As part of my career enhancement, I achieved PMP certification in 2008, ITIL V3 Foundation in 2009 and PMI-ACP in 2011. After working for about 13.5 years in my first job, I realized that there is something more outside that I need to explore and to enhance my career in those areas. After that I moved to a online gaming product development company in Hyderabad as a Delivery Manager. During my tenure in that company, senior management decided to shift the direction towards Agile. By seeing the growth in Agile and to sharpen my career, I have achieved CSM (Certified Scrum Master) and CSP (Certified Scrum Professional). I am the first CTC (Certified Team Coach) in the world and I have got this certification from Scrum alliance. I am also a CSPO (Certified Product Owner) and I have done this certification in order to get more in depth knowledge in product ownership. As part of the Agile transformation, I was fortunate to be a core member of the transformation team called CHRONOS. I have gained great hands-on experience in large scale Agile transformation in the organization. As part of the transformation, I was involved in:
- 2 days extensive Agile and Lean training (covering Scrum and Kanban)
- Dedicated coaching to the Scrum teams for 5 to 6 sprints of 2 weeks duration
- Creating the Engineering practices training material (Pair programming, Swarming, TDD, CI, CD…)
- Coaching senior management, Product team and HR
- Providing VersionOne training and support to implement it to the teams
- Provided support for the Agile Service Bus implementation across the organization
After the transformation completed, I wanted to gain more hands-on experience into Product Development and Management. Hence, I moved into one of the world’s top most BPM & CRM company in their Hyderabad offices. I have been part of “Real-time Agile Management Tool” in this organization as a Senior Product Manager.
I am also passionate for training. I conducted several PMP, PMI-ACP and non-certified Scrum workshops in order to keep my certifications active and also to share my knowledge and to learn from the practical questions come from the participants. I have trained close to 3000 people for various training certification and non-certification programs.
I also manage a linked in group “Universal Agile & Scrum Community Of Practice” through which I have been sharing my knowledge and learn from others through interactive discussions on real time scenarios. If anyone is interested to join this group, you can join this group.
